The Compassionate Heart
Lojong — training the mind in compassion
A transformative eight-week programme in the Tibetan Buddhist art of mind training. Learn to work with difficult emotions, cultivate genuine kindness, and develop the courage to open your heart to yourself and others.
About Lojong
Lojong — “mind training” — is a set of practices from the Tibetan Buddhist tradition that systematically train us to transform even the most difficult experiences into the path of compassion. These methods are non-sectarian and have been adopted by teachers and practitioners across traditions worldwide.
What the Course Covers
The programme follows the classical Seven Points of Mind Training, translated into a contemporary setting:
- The foundation — how the mind actually works
- Absolute bodhichitta — resting in openness
- Relative bodhichitta — tonglen (sending and taking)
- Transforming adversity — working with difficulty
- Lifetime practices — integrating compassion into daily life
- Commitments — what to adopt and abandon
- Guidelines for daily life — practical instructions
Research and Benefits
Compassion training has been shown in clinical studies to reduce stress, increase resilience, and improve relationships. Participants regularly report feeling more at ease with themselves and others, and more able to respond rather than react in difficult situations.
