Retreats & Sesshins

Sesshins are periods of intensive retreat — the word means "to touch the heart-mind." We offer retreats throughout the year, from single days to eight-day intensives. All are welcome according to their level of experience.

How to Register

To register for a sesshin or retreat, write to us at info@stonegatezendo.org with the retreat title, your contact information, and a brief note about your practice background. We respond within three days and will send a confirmation with further instructions.

A deposit of $75 holds your place. The balance is due one week before arrival.

Dana & Financial Assistance

The dharma is freely offered. Retreat costs cover meals, lodging, and the basic operating expenses of the monastery. We maintain a dana fund to support those for whom the suggested cost is a genuine obstacle. If cost is a concern, please mention it in your registration email — it will not affect our welcome.

Dana offerings in addition to retreat fees are received with gratitude and sustain the monastery between seasons.

What to Bring

Simple, dark-colored clothing suitable for sitting: loose trousers, a plain shirt, a warm layer for early mornings. Cushions and mats are provided, though you are welcome to bring your own. Leave fragrance, electronics, and books other than a dharma text behind. A notebook is welcome.
